The role of Intentional communities for the society around them-The case of Students villages and communities of young adults
Culture of Belonging through Community Building (COB) Is based on the assumption that the strength of a community is based on a high level of sense of community .This is a result of communal relationship (social capital ): The ability to create relationships based on day to day life in different aspects of life around an agreed collective identity in a way that can give every person a way to to feel that they matter, they have a role, they make a difference and are seen and belong. Most of the young people in the world will not be part of Intentional communities but all the young people in the world need a belonging frame work that can enable them to take responsibility on their life and the lives of the people around them, make a change and contribute to their surroundings. COB- was the main theory of change that led the movement of student villages in Israel and was the main infrastructure in leading young groups in Nepal leading change in their villages. These universal principles of COB have an enormous importance, not just for the participants themselves, but also to all their stakeholders. During the presentation we will learn the story of these two places and the potentional effect it can have by bringing it to other places. These stories emphasize how different kinds of intentional communities can become a north star for other different communal gatherings and the option to create a framework of Belonging to every person everywhere.
