Prof. Michal Shamai

Michal Shamai Ph.D. is professor emeritus in the School of Social Work at the University of Haifa. Her research areas are as follows: Family and Family Therapy, Collective and National Trauma and Families in Poverty. In addition, she has an extensive experience in couple and family therapy and in the supervision of social workers who respond to direct and indirect victims of terror attacks and to populations living under a security threats. Michal published many articles and a book on this issue. Michal believes that every psychosocial intervention includes political aspects that social workers need to expose it in the therapeutic/ intervention context. Currently Michal is the community director of Kibbutz Mishmar Haemek that host the members of Kibbutz Nahal Oz located on the border with Gaza.
