Do ICs Evolve? Identity, Design, and Adaptatation

Are there institutional design principles (aka "best practices") emerging from the varied histories of intentional communities that enable a sustainable and humane response to the climate crisis and social inequality?  I'm informed by research suggesting that networked or confederated organizations are more successful in their mission than stand-alone entities.  I report on an analysis of available data from 500 verified US  ICs in the 2016 Communities Directory, published in print and online by the Foundation for Intentional Community.  I share primary affiliations by decade, and the defining characteristics (values) associated with those collective identities.
